Still Life Corner

In a quiet corner of the European Collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, a museum visitor admires two works, Still Life with Teapot and Fruit by Paul Gauguin (left) and Bouquet of Flowers in a Vase by Vincent Van Gogh.  These two powerhouse post-impressionists were friends and painting companions for many years.  They often spurred each other on with new ideas and ways of seeing.  Today, it seems appropriate that these two still life works should hang side-by-side in the museum.
