"All The Fashion"
A woman admires Gustav Klimt's iconic Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I at the Neue Galerie in New York City. Gustav Klimt quickly emerged as one of Vienna's preeminent modern artists in the late 1800s. In his first portrait of the wealthy Viennese socialite, Klimt incorporated layers of lustrous gold and silver along with various Byzantine and Egyptian symbols. This painting is often referred to by it's dark WWII era title "Woman in Gold", which was meant to hide the fact that the sitter was Jewish. The painting has been the subject of numerous books and a BBC feature film starring Helen Mirren and Ryan Reynolds.
